Bernard Widrow carried out the pioneering
research for neural networks at Stanford University in the 1950s. It is a technology that
requires massive computer capacity and, therefore, practical applications using this
technology have been limited. However, it is a fascinating technology--imagine computers
that function the way scientists think the brain functions! An Introduction to Neural
Networks by Leslie Smith at www.cs.stir.ac.uk/~lss/NNIntro/InvSlides.html
is a good place to begin exploring this technology. Next, check out The
Neural Net Tutorial at www.ifsys.co.uk/html/tutorial.html.
