With so many online job sites to choose from,
where should you begin? One good starting point is with index or gateway sites--Web sites
that gather and present information about other Web sites. One such site, JobSmart at www.jobsmart.org/ offers sections on how to write
resumes and where to send them, career guides, links to 150 salary surveys, and
information on how to find unadvertised jobs (the hidden job market). Also be sure to check out the Web site of job/career guru Richard N. Bolles, author of What Color is Your Parachute? at www.jobhuntersbible.com/index.html. In addition to finding annotated links to Web sites
containing job openings, many sites offer excellent advice about organizing and conducting
your job search, including sections on creating and posting resumes, career counseling,
networking, and research. Some of the top job search Web sites are America's Job Bank
at web.ajb.dni.us/, CareerMosaic at www.careermosaic.com/, CareerPath at www.careerpath.com, Career Magazine at www.careermag.com/, JobNet at www.jobnet.com/, Online Career Center at www.occ.com, E-Span Job Search at www.espan.com/, and Monster.com's Career Center at content.monster.com. (iVillage's StudentCenter.com is no longer available.)
