A career in information science is not new in the 1990s, but this career has new challenges in the Information Age. What is information science? Is it the career for you? To learn more about information science, read "Careers in Research Libraries and Information Science: The Dynamic Role of the Research Librarian" at www.arl.org/careers/careerspaper.html. At the Education and Careers for the 21st Century Web site, www-slis.lib.indiana.edu/21stCentury/, you can learn more about careers for information professionals in areas such as social informatics or content management. The American Society for Information Science (ASIS) was founded in 1937 and brings together information professionals from fields as diverse as computer science, linguistics, librarianship, engineering, and medicine. To learn more about ASIS, visit their Web site at www.asis.org/.
