If you haven't read J. R. R. Tolkien's books, you've missed out on a really great adventure. Start with The Hobbit and then move directly to the trilogy Lord of the Rings. Tolkien has a dedicated following on the Web. Try the Grey Havens site at tolkien.cro.net, where you'll find maps of Middle Earth, original art, songs, and discussion groups. At www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/7882/tolkiennav.html, you'll find more information about hobbits and the Tolkien universe, along with lots of links to other sites. For the latest facts and rumors about the Lord of the Rings movie, visit sites such as www.xenite.org/faqs/lotr_movie/index.html or fandom.com/ringbearer. By the way, "hobbit" is also a somewhat obscure computer term that refers to the high-order bit--that's the leftmost bit in a sequence of 1s and 0s.
