The First, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments in the Bill of Rights have been used to establish legal and constitutional precedents that protect an individual's right to privacy. You can find a transcription of the Bill of Rights (and an image of the original) at the National Archives and Records Administration Web site, www.nara.gov/exhall/charters/billrights/billmain.html. The paper "Computer Privacy vs. First and Fourth Amendment Rights" at www.eff.org/pub/Privacy/comp_privacy_4th_amend.paper shows how to apply the rights established by the Bill of Rights to questions of privacy.
